Step Inside Glasgow’s Official Best New Italian Restaurant
Fresh from picking up the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at this month’s Italian Awards, La Lanterna West End has certainly made quite the splash on Great Western Road since its opening only two short months ago.
Despite stiff competition from the likes of fellow Italian heavyweights such as Celino’s Partick and Crolla’s Gelateria, La Lanterna reigned supreme and picked up the prestigious award at the 2017 ceremony. This marks an impressive winning streak for the team, who also own the Glasgow’s renowned La Lanterna on Hope Street.
Est. since 1970, sister restaurant La Lanterna Hope Street‘s whopping 47-year history is a testament to its outstanding reputation. It has long been considered one of the best Italian restaurant in the country, winning awards such as: ‘Best Restaurant’, ‘Best Team’, ‘Best Chef’, ‘Best Pasta’ and ‘Best Wine List’ year on year. And with this most recent win for the West End newbie, it looks like this fresh addition is set to follow in the very big footsteps of its sister.
After almost five decades, it goes without saying that the team certainly know a thing or two about Glasgow’s enthusiastic appreciation for quality, authentic, Italian food. And that’s what they’re proud to now be serving from Glasgow’s West End as well as the City Centre. From the classics to new twists on traditional dishes, they strive to bring local, Italian neighbourhood dining to each and every plate.
What’s more, La Lanterna West End is continuing to celebrate with exclusive special offers for November, in the lead up to serving their Christmas menus. First up, there’s still time to get yourself down for the last two Steak Wednesdays ( 26th Nov and 6th Dec) for these juicy deals for two people:

Every steak comes with hand-cut chips, a choice of sauce, grilled tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms. So the only thing left to do is decide: rare, medium, or well done (or maybe even BLUE)?
If bubbles are more your thing, say cheers to free Prosecco for each member of your party when you book a table from 3pm-6pm, Mon-Thurs in November. We’ll drink to that!
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, there’s a good chance that you’ll end up dining next to a star, as VIP visitors have been flocking through the doors on a weekly basis, from Hollywood A-listers like Chris Pine, to Scotland’s good and the great like Marti Pellow and everyone’s favourite Rab, Gregor Fisher!
