Paesano Opens Pasta Restaurant in Iconic Glasgow Building
Top Pizzeria to open pasta restaurant
When it comes to pizza, proper Italian pizza at least, there are only a few contenders in Glasgow that meet the standard. The most popular of them being Paesano.
Paesano’s original store, on Miller Street, has been a regular spot for pizza lovers and their West End store in the once dormant former Costa Coffee store is an eternal wait for your taste of Italy. The brand has become synonymous for pizza in Glasgow.
The team behind Paesano have confirmed that they are set to open a new restaurant in Glasgow serving fresh pasta, keeping with their Italian heritage.
The new store will be launched in a rather iconic city centre venue. Sugo, the new pasta based restaurant, will find it home in the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Herald Building.
Paesano team have made it clear that they’ll keep their menu traditionally true to the various regions of Italy that the dishes originate from; including Lazio, Tuscany, Sicily, Puglia, Abbruzzo, and more.
The focus of the new restaurant will be to serve fresh pasta daily and provide authentic dishes with produce and style from the provenance they originated.
The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Herald Building is a listed premise, however the the proposal forward to Glasgow City Council follows the same open plan dining experience you are likely to find in the Paesano eateries.
The new restaurant aims to take full advantage of their space by allowing the windows to span a large portion of Mitchell street, and give access for customers via the ornate corner door, part of the structure that forms the main tower of the building.
Paesano’s team hope that their new venture, Sugo, will provide not only a unique dining experience with authentic food but help enliven the streetscape with a new interesting venue.
It is clear that the team are hoping to provide a change to a once uninviting part of the city centre and to create a new experience for the people of Glasgow.
Unfortunately there are no details of a launch date, but we’ll provide reviews once the new restaurant is live!
