Get your fiesta feels in Glasgow city centre with this new hot spot!

An empty city centre unit is getting a new lease of life after a quirky fun fiesta spot is set to take its place.

Mezcal, a Mexican taqueria and bar, will be opening this month on Hope Street. Taking its name from Mexico’s smokey staple spirit, Mezcal aims to bring an authentic taste of the country’s party capital to Glasgow city centre… but with a twist.

The owners say we’ve to think tacos, mezcal, live DJ’s and neon lights galore; certainly something Glasgow can handle then! Mezcal will offer contemporary Mexican inspired street food plus a wide range of cocktails from Margarita’s to Horchata.

Housed in a former insurance broker, the restaurant is the newest member of the Rotunda Group. Rotunda group are already renowned for popular Glaswegian eateries such as Halloumi, Pickled Ginger, Rioja and La Rotunda.

Plans for turning 104 Hope Street into a restaurant were granted by Glasgow City Council back in July 2015. Over four years in the making for Mezcal to finally be opening its doors.

Currently, the unit has bright, colourful masked wrestler murals on the windows and a bright neon ‘Mezcal’ sign above its door, but nothing else has been seen yet.

The official menu, interior and launch date are all highly anticipated at this moment – keep up to date on their Facebook page.
