Glasgow, welcome to the yoga revolution
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word yoga? Your mum and her pals, dressed head to toe in brightly coloured spandex, down the school gym hall doing a bit of stretching? Well, it’s time to think again.
There is a revolution in the world of yoga, started by an American professional wrestling legend, that is taking the world by storm with hugely impressive health results. On Saturday 9th September, the revolution comes to Glasgow.
After years of hard hitting action in the ring, Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) suffered severe spinal injuries that threatened to end his Hall of Fame worthy career. With lifting and running no longer an option DDP took up yoga, developing his own high intensity yoga programme which boosts cardio performance, enhances flexibility and builds core muscle strength with minimal risk of injury.
DDP soon shared his workout regime with others, inspiring some incredible body fat, muscle growth and cardiovascular results in even those who began morbidly obese.
Before DDP brings his introductory masterclass to the city’s Kelvinhall, GlasgowLiving wanted to get the lowdown on this revolutionary workout phenomenon. Alistair Sargent went to meet Murray Thomson of Power Yoga Plus, Scotland’s only fully qualified DDP Yoga instructor, to find out more.
If you’re inspired to get started with DDP Yoga then 9th September is your chance to learn from the man who started it all. DDP will be hosting a highly informative ‘Inspiration meets Perspiration’ workshop at the iconic Kelvinhall from 1pm that could transform your workout regime. And if you’d like to find out more about the WWE Hall of Fame career of Diamond Dallas Page and what it’s like to step inside the ring with Hulk Hogan then you’ll have your chance to hear from the man himself when DDP makes a live appearance and answers your questions at the Classic Grand on Friday 8th September. Yoga isn’t just for yer maw! It’s time to embrace the hottest new workout in town and start making a positive change to your health and wellbeing. And do us all a favour, leave the spandex at home!
