Attention Kilmarnock Road residents and visitors – New Shawlands bar Gulp opened this week!

The latest Southside hangout opened at 5pm on Bonfire Night to warm the bellies of revellers. In the former home of Clay Oven and Black Dove, the bar promises good food, good drinks and good music. We can’t wait for the new Shawlands bar GULP!

It has also been announced that Gulp will play host to ex-Wishaw restaurant ‘Dolce Vita’, who served delicious home-cooked Italian food to the town for many years. The family-owned business has a huge part of the community, and it’s loss will be felt. However, in relocating, the business said they were excited to be moving to the city and hoped their customers would visit them in their new venture. We are sure they will, as we’ve heard the food is top notch! Especially the spaghetti carbonara, which has rave reviews.

We think the concept is brilliant – who doesn’t want to eat pizza and pasta while also drinking and listening to music? We believe Gulp are on to a winner, and the team at Dolce Vita will fit in fantastically to the Glasgow scene.

Shawlands is home to many fantastic bars, restaurants and music venues – what makes Gulp great is that it combines all three! However, the cuisine in the area is so varied; from salt and chilli fry up’s to florists, we’re sure they’ll fit in just fine. From Quaich to Koelschip Yard, it definitely keeps good company. If you’re in the area, why not go along and check it out? It’s so important to help new businesses when they make big moves – we want to keep our streets and town centres busy!
