Film buffs and cinematic fanatics unite! The esteemed London Korean Film Festival is gracing Glasgow’s streets to celebrate its 12th year running with a hefty mélange of the latest movie masterpieces, including broody Korean noir aesthetics, documentaries and animations.

Coin Locker Girl

The festival will run for two weeks from 26th October – 19th November 2017 in London before packing its bags and unleashing its visual goodies on audiences in Glasgow and around the UK. This year’s programme is set to showcase a wild myriad of genres with a special focus on Korean Noir, encompassing Indie Firepower, Cinema Now, Women’s Voices, a Bae Chang-ho Retrospective, Documentaries, Artist Video, Animations, Mise-en-scène Shorts and a whole heap of very special guests. You can check out the full programme listing here.

New World

Having begun as a modest venture into Korean cinema, the festival has since grown to become one of the longest and most popular festivals highlighting the cinematic prowess of Korea, reeling through blockbusters, indie movies and documentaries. It’s organised by the Korean Cultural Centre UK with the support of the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, Korean Film Council and Korean Film Archive. But one of the coolest elements of the festival’s film philosophy is their inclusivity, with films appealing to a wide range of interests and ages.

Some of the screenings will include Coin Locker Girl, directed and written by Han Jun-hee, telling a sordid and enticing tale of psychotic crime bosses and organ trafficking, The Day After, a thrilling drama that follows an affair in a publishing house and New World, a gangsta crime movie from Park Hoon-jung, the screenwriter behind The Unjust and I Saw the Devil.
