Together at Christmas Event by GDA
Glasgow Disability Alliance has organised a fantastic event for the residents of Milton, Lambhill and Cadder this Christmas. The ‘Together at Christmas’ event by the GDA is scheduled for Friday 13th December, from 10am-3.30pm at the Milton Library and Learning Campus.
The aim of the day is to tackle social isolation at what is a difficult time of year for many. The event will bring people together to share information, have fun and enjoy a festive meal. There will also be information stalls, fun activities and a ‘Chatty Cafe’ for those needing advice or support. This sounds like a fantastic initiative and one which will help the most vulnerable in society at Christmas time!
A small group of 6 GDA members, nicknamed ‘The Fantastic Six’ were able to secure funding to host this event through a local community budgeting scheme. The team wanted this to be an accessible and inclusive event, which will bring people together this Winter. It is the aim of the day to not only socialise, but also to entertain and inform individuals.
The Glasgow Disability Alliance has previously held successful community events. These include fun days and confidence boosting workshops, which are locally funded and benefit the surrounding communities. Additionally, the GDA also helps other groups such as the St Augustine’s food bank for whom the team raised £340. This shows the wonderful community spirit in Milton as well as the hard work of the GDA team to help their local community.
This sounds like a fantastic event. It really does embody the true meaning of Christmas! If you or anyone you know would benefit from this day, please do attend.
