Celtic Sleep Out Glasgow 2019
The Celtic Sleep Out Glasgow 2019 is set to be a cold one – but it’s all for a good cause.
Organised by the Celtic FC Foundation, the Sleep Out is scheduled for Saturday 16th November. This will be the fifth consecutive year of the event, and hopefully the most successful. Set to be one of the most integral events for the club’s festive calendar, the event costs £30 to take part in and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £130. And the money raised from the event will benefit the club’s 2019 Christmas appeal, which is a very worthy cause.
The event will involve participants braving the weather under the stars at Paradise on what is set to be a cold night. Individuals will be given a ground mat and foil sheet/blanket, however will be required to ensure they wear appropriate clothing and footwear. This means layers and layers of cosy clothes to make sure you are as warm as possible. It’s time to look the long john’s out, because its a long night from 10pm-6am. And with lessons learnt from Social Bite’s sleep outs – we recommend you wrap up as warm as possible.
The Sleep Out is not only a Glasgow-based event. Another event in London has been organised for supporters and willing participants south of the border, based in St Anne’s Primary School, Whitechapel. This event is slightly different, running from 9pm-5am – however the aim is still the same. And the area has links to both Celtic and Brother Walfrid as this is where he was located next after his time in Glasgow.
Celtic have stated that due to anticipated severe weather conditions, these events will be exceptionally challenging, both mentally and physically. Therefore, participants must be aged 18+ and be in an appropriate physical condition to take part.
The Christmas appeal 2019 will benefit several charities and individuals, including local children and elderly who live in poverty and homeless people. There’s still time to register to take part or donate to those who are already participating – it’s a fantastic cause!
